Johnson (b.1949) Here is a very nice mixed media sculpture by Colorado artist Eric Johnson. This piece was purchased at Savage Stevens Fine Art Gallery in California. The sculpture is painted composition pottery tile on mesh screen surrounded by a metallic composition square with leaded accents, flanked by a thick fibrous paper composition boards with striated design. It is linen relief matted and is framed with a deep plum purple anodized metal frame that either looks plum purple of black depending on the light. It is inscribed signed lower left Eric C. Johnson and dated 2000. Eric is a native of Colorado and has been an artist since 1975. His artworks have been shown both nationally and internationally, in solo and group shows, including The museum of Contemporary Art in Denver, The Biennials in Western States premiering in Phoenix, Denver and Fort Collins. Internationally he has shown in Barcelona, Spain and Bamberg, Germany. He is in permanent collection around the nation including Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania, New York, Chicago, California, Texas and Minnesota. His Award winning sculptures can be seen throughout Denver, Lowry Foundation, Museum of Outdoor Arts, Cherry Creek Arts Festival, The SNAG Conference and The Smokey Hill Arts Festival. His sculpture commissions can be seen at Coors Field, the Colorado Convention Center and "Palm Harbor" Florida City Gates.
