Description: The two halves of the split case Type 1 Volkswagen engine are joined together using six 12mm studs and nuts. These washers fit underneath the case nuts and protect the magnesium case material (or aluminum on later models) from being chewed up by the steel hardware. These washers fit 1200cc (40HP) to 1600cc engines, which were used by VW in the 1961 to 1977 Standard Beetle, 1971 to 1979 Super Beetle, 1961 to 1974 Karmann Ghia, Type 2 (Bus) 1961 to 1971, 1962 to 1973 Type 3 (Notchback, Squareback, Fastback), and 1973 to 1974 Thing models. The washer is made of 3mm thick steel and has an inside diameter of 12.2mm and an outside diameter of 22mm. Six required per car.
