Description: This is a gorgeous 100% correct sword that is signed Emura Saku. This is a complete sword with minor wear to the sheath ( some scratches and minor paint loss as pictured and a couple of very small nicks towards the end of the blade as shown in photos. This sword is an early type 98 with an openwork tsuba. The type 98 is a minor change to the type 94 which abolished the second suspension mount. From Japanese sword index: "During World War II a swordsmith namedChounsai Emura(real name: Emura Shigetato), originally from Tokushima in Shikoku, operated a swordmaking school on the grounds of theOkayama Prison. He made sword blades himself and also trained prisoners to make sword blades in support of the Japanese war effort. Emura san died in 1960. He made numerous very good blades which are now much sought after by collectors and students of the Japanese sword."
