Decorated in the Going to Market pattern in black transfer with hand colored highlights in blue, yellow, red, and green. This pattern is listed in the Transferware Collectors Club Database as maker unknown; however, this example is marked Elsmore & Son England. This mark was used by Thomas Elsmore & Son, Tunstall from 1872 to 1887. Thomas Elsmore & Son used the word England before 1891. Has crazing typical of earthenware, wear consistent with age and use, glaze wear to the edge and some small spots of staining. Measures approximately 8 inches wide. This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not affect the display of the piece. LW
