Description: Here is a reproduction of the cross stitched sampler by Elmira Chenery from the early 19th century. Elmira lived in a relatively remote part of Maine and did this sampler at age 15. Reproduced by The Scarlet Letter, Antique & Faithful Reproduction Samplers, 18th & 19th Century, American & English. The original is in the Weir Collection. An estate sale find, the kit has not be opened, but there is a small hole in the bag. It does appear to be complete with 25 count linen fabric, DMC embroidery floss, 100% crewel wool, and chart. Finished size is approximately 12.5 x 15.25 inches. Suitable for beginner stitchers.
