Each part of speech is colour coded, and the easy reference card shows the colour pattern to follow, so even people who have never studied Japanese can make grammatically correct sentences. Gameplay consists of a build phase and destroy phase. In the build phase you add cards to your side of the board, freely arranging any cards in your control, with the requirement that once the phase is complete, all sentences must be grammatically correct. The destroy phase adds up the points you added in the build phase, subtracts a point, and then you may remove up to that total from your opponent's field, again with the requirement that when you are done, whatever remains is still grammatically correct. Victory comes when one player has at least 20 points on their field. Once fluent, the game resembles a card based Japanese Mad Libs, as the sentences built from a hand of cards will often be silly, whimsical, or even nonsense (but still correct Japanese).
