As a master of modern sculpture, he is known for his monumental abstract sculptures. After studying architecture at the University of Madrid, he aspired to be a sculptor. Since 1948, he has studied in Paris, where he creates sculptures in plaster and clay. In 1951, he returned to Basque and set up a foundry in his studio, producing pure abstract works using metal in traditional Spanish techniques. Since the mid-1960s, he has made works using various materials such as stone, terracotta and paper. Throughout his life he explored the relationship between materials and form, sculpture and the environment, and his large outdoor sculptures have been installed in Spain and elsewhere in the West. In addition to exhibiting his work in museums, he has exhibited in international exhibitions such as the 1958 Venice Biennale and the 1978 Documenta, and has received numerous awards. This is a 4 volume set of Catalogresones by Spanish sculptor Eduardo Chilida, published by Edition Nerea between 2014 and 2023.This is the first Catalogresone to cover Chillida's sculptures. The Chilida Lek Museum was established in San Sebastian by Chilida as an ideal space to display his works. Meticulously designed by the museum's owners and curators, each work includes a description of the work as well as detailed information about the materials, owners, and exhibitions.Volume 1 covers works from 1948 to 1973.Volume 2 contains works from 1974 to 1982, including one of his masterpieces, The Wind Comb.Volume 3 covers works from 1983 to 1990.Volume 4 covers his works from 1991, when he studied architecture and later turned sculptor, until his death in 2002.
