This is a quality made item made in Germany by Sturm and issued to the infrantry soldier for field operations. It can be configured in a multitude of tents or shelters and it also setup to be a rain poncho as well. Made with quality snaps and materials. I found a picture of it used as with other pieces to configure larger tent structures. One shows three (drei) Zeltbahnen together and another shows four (vier) Zeltbahn snapped together. One section like this with 2 pole sections can make a small ground shelter for two soldiers. So if you have more of these you can build larger tents. Check out the pictures for details.
