Description: Two Early Tennessee Documents, 1800, 1801, Davidson, Robertson Counties. Early printed State of Tennessee summons form for Davidson County filled out and signed. Includes members of prominent early settler families of Middle Tennessee, including plaintiff Richard C. Napier (a Col. in the Revolutionary War), Willam Hargrove, Mathew Talbot, Josiah G Duke and others. Signed by the court clerk Andrew McNairy and dated November, 1800. Small tears along folds. Early manuscript testimony of a William Daughten, written in Robertson County. pertaining to the same case as the summons. The lawsuit seems to be, at least in part, over a deed to 1000 acres of land. Prominent in this testimony is the name of Samuel Handley, a revolutionary war hero, who eventually settled in Franklin TN. The testimony was given at the house of Charnal Corban. This document is signed by William Daughten and also signed and notarized by John or perhaps J.W. Stewart, dated October 5, 1801.A long lateral tear along fold, not noticeable as framed. Both are nicely framed in matching rustic wood with documents sandwiched between two panes of glass. 8 1/2 x 7 1/4 and 13 1/4 x 8 1/2
