Description: Welcome to ANTIQUES & MOORE! This listing is for a nice Early American Pattern Glass buttermilk goblet made in the 1870's. We were unable to identify this pattern although it has many design features including a scalloped band at the top with tassels hanging below and a stippled background. The pedestal base is octagon panel cut above a dome shaped base. Buttermilk goblets are generally not as easily found as many other shapes produced during this period. Early American Pattern Glass was developed to provide a less expensive alternative to hand-cut crystal that would be affordable to the masses. It was immediately popular and was produced in hundreds of patterns and was produced into the early years of the 20th Century. Measures 4 7/8" high with a 4" diameter top opening and a 3 1/2" diameter base. Weighs 12 ounces. This nice goblet is in excellent Estate condition with no noted flaws although there are some production irregularities on the top rim and on the edge of the base. We at Antiques & Moore have been in the Antiques business for over 30 years and try to describe our items as accurately as possible.
