Description: Early 1900's Post Cards of Art From Famous European Galleries (90+) Nearly 100 pieces of art painted by the masters of several European countries, and America. Some of the artists are Raffaello, Holbein, Botticelli, Rubens, J.S. Sargent, Van Dyke, Whistler, Greuze, Vecelli, Reynolds, Rembrant, and many more. These works were in important galleries in Rome, Florence, Paris, Amsterdam, London, and more. There are 3 photos included in this lot: The Clock Tower at Venice, a gondola on the canal at Venice, and a photo in sepia of Leonardo de Vinci (the gondola image has damage at the bottom). These cards are a combination of black & white, sepia, color, and 1 RPPC. Most are void of notes and never mailed, with the exception of a few that were inscribed and one that has stamp dated 1907 (each having writing on the back has been photographed separately). I believe this is a one family lot, coming from an estate years ago; we having done nothing with them until now. The lot suggests a trip to Europe in the 1907 period, clearly by an art enthusiast. I wonder how many of these pieces of art were stolen by the Germans in WWII, or those taken by the victors that are among the 30,000 or so paintings still un-recovered from that era. Condition of the lot is fine or better. Please view all photos.
