Description: Up for bid is an original collotype photograph by the acclaimed British photographer Eadweard Muybridge. This photograph was created in 1887 at The University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia and is from Muybridge's pioneering work on stop-motion photography/cinematography entitled Animal Locomotion. It is guaranteed to be from the original 1887 Animal Locomotion publication, and is not a re-print. He created 781 different plates for the original publication, and this is plate No. 550 The sheet size measures 19" x 24", and the image size measures approximately 9" x 13.5". Considering this photograph is over 125 years old, it is in very good condition. The image is bright, and void of scuffs or stains. There is very light edge wear, light handling wear and minor staining to the edges of the sheet, a small pencil notation (bottom right sheet corner as shown). The back of the sheet has light staining, previous hinge residue along the top margin, and handwritten notes across the bottom margin as shown. The photograph was previously framed/matted, and your purchase will include a very nice 16ply archival rag board mat (as shown in image 2). Mat size measures 22 x 28. This will ship flat via insured fedex ground. All foreign locations will ship flat via ebay International Shipping. Please see my other auctions for more examples of these Muybridge collotypes.
