Description: Handwritten letter on the Benjamim Franklin Hotel stationary and dated Sept. 22 47. Written and signed at the conclusion in blue fountain pen ink by E. Stanley Jones. The letter describes not having a real photograph to send a fan. In very good condition. (1884–1973) Eli Stanley Jones was an American Methodist Christian missionary, theologian, and author. He is remembered chiefly for his interreligious lectures to the educated classes in India, thousands of which were held across the Indian subcontinent during the first decades of the 20th century. He is sometimes considered the "Billy Graham of India." His seminal work, The Christ of the Indian Road, sold more than a million copies worldwide after its publication in 1925. As of 2018, three million copies of his books have been sold. He is the founder of the Christian Ashram movement. In 1938, Time called Jones "the world's greatest Christian missionary." This lot came from the Jim Wiggins collection we purchased in July 2022. Jim Wiggins accumulated the most unique and valuable autograph collection over a period of 70-plus years. He obtained his collection either in person or by writing to persons of fame and notoriety. Comes with a full Letter of Authenticity from Todd Mueller Authentics.
