Description: 1988-1989 Italian TV series Valentina starring Demetra Hampton, Russell Case, Antonello Fassari, Mary Sellers, Kim Rossi Stuart, Assumpta Serna and directed by Giandomenico Curi and Gianfranco Giagni. The Valentina Character: Valentina was a comic character created by Italian graphic artist Guido Crepax for use in a series of ads for Pirelli Tire Corporation. Valentina would race about in a variety of cars or motorcycles, all with Pirelli tires, of course. She would frequently lose her clothes but was otherwise unstoppable. Valentina promptly outgrew the advertising world and became the subject of several full-length graphic novels by Crepax. In 1988, her character found it's way to the small screen in a 13-part Italian TV series. This series was carried in the United States in the early 1990's by Playboy Channel as well as other cable channels. Comment: Italian "Superstar" Demetra Hampton (born in Philadelphia!) is best known for her roles in Italian film and television. She was born to play the role of Valentina - she actually looks like Crepax' comic character! This TV series has everything ... from romance to horror to erotica, gypsies, witches, even an android from the sea - all done up in grand Italian style! The fashions are straight out of Cosmopolitan and Vogue - the excellent musical score by Fio Zanotti even includes tracks by Billie Holiday. Per the label, each episode is 25 minutes - total running time for 13 episodes is 325 minutes. The video presentation is full-screen 4:3 with English audio, no subtitles. This movie-on-demand MOD archive title on recorded media is new and factory sealed. Each of 3 DVD discs are Region 1, NTSC format, specifically designed to play on DVD players in North America.
