Description: Offered here is a Drive Belt for Repairing the Auto Play/Return Mechanism for Technics SL 1600 MK2 Turntable. This listing is for the Drive Belt only, No turntable included. So my workhorse SL1600MK2 turntable recently began having some moderate functional issues with the tonearm. The tonearms automatic return function was very slow and sluggish. The tonearm would lift at the end of play but then would stagger sluggishly back to the armrest, stopping and fighting to get to the armrest. I decided to look into it and discovered that the small mechanism drive belt under the platter was hard and had lost its shape and was slipping. I found the belt to be somewhat stiff or hard and also slightly out of round (a bit egg shaped). I felt that this may be causing the problem. As soon as I slipped on one of these new round belts it was working like new. No more chugging and stalling. Starts and Stops perfectly now, returning to its arm rest without any sluggishness or extra effort, smooth as silk. The original belt that I removed was a square belt. The replacement belt is a round belt and it works perfectly, running smooth as silk. See the compared belts in the pictures.
