Comes with COA from THE MUSEUM OF MOM AND POP CULTURE! *We're excited to present this very special Production Package from the Jeff Chandler Post Civil War Drama, DRANGO. Rarely do we find this much script and production material for a 1950s Production. *Script is complete at 157 White and Blue Pages - Draft and Date of Draft not noted, though due to the fact it's a production-used script and shooting began late in May or Early June in 1956, we can get a sense of when the script was developed. The Original Screenplay was written by Hall Bartlett from a story by Harriet Frank, Jr. and Irving Ravetch. *There are many wonders to this collection. The script itself from the markings appears to be the Continuity Person's Script. As shots and scenes were completed, they would be marked off on the script as you see, or pages folded. The interior of this old-school beauty almost has an origami-like center. The are also a number of markings and notes such as notes on Interior Shooting, some changes, and Omitted material. It's a fine study script - which along with all the 3-hole punch elements was probably housed at one time in a big 3-Ring binder. That binder is long gone, but the contents, complete with side tabs, are still with us to tell the tale. *The pile of paperwork is unusual and interesting. There's an 8.5 x 14" Bits and Extra Budget Allowance spread sheet and another for Equipment, Animals and Wranglers. We've never even seen these before. Next find a 2 1/4" Contact Sheet and (6) 4 x 5" Studio Contact Prints. Great behind-the-scenes moments from this film. Also find Staff and Crew Sheets and a 55-page Shooting Schedule with notes and notations! *SEE PHOTOS FOR CONDITION - Very Good to Very Fine for all elements - Old-School Hollywood collectors, don't miss this one! *HISTORICAL INFORMATION: Drango is a 1957 American Western film produced by Jeff Chandler's production company Earlmar Productions, written and directed by Hall Bartlett, and released by United Artists. Starring Chandler in the title role, the film also features Ronald Howard, Joanne Dru, Julie London and Donald Crisp. Set in the town of Kennesaw, Georgia in the months immediately following the American Civil War, the story depicts the efforts of a resolute Union Army officer who had participated in the town's destruction during Sherman's March determined to make amends. *PRODUCTION: The film was made by Jeff Chandler's own production company, Earlmar, for United Artists. It was meant to be the first of a six-picture deal Earlmar had with United, with Chandler to star in three of them. The film was a co-production with the production company of Hal Bartlett, who wrote the script. Chandler had risen to fame playing Cochise in Broken Arrow. "It's no Indian story", said Chandler, "let Cochise rest in peace." Half the movie was shot on location in the south; filming started in St Francisville in June 1956.Ronald Howard made his American debut in the film. Linda Darnell signed to play the female lead, with Donald Crisp and Julie London in support. Darnell had to pull out because of a virus and she was replaced with Joanne Dru. *STORYLINE: A participant in Sherman's March becomes governor of a Southern city directly affected by the destruction - and they have yet to learn of his involvement. *SEE MORE CLASSIC PLAYS, MUSICALS AND SCREENPLAYS FROM THIS AMAZING ARCHIVE IN OUR OTHER AUCTIONS - AND IN THE WEEKS TO COME!
