Major Steve Heyser, who signed the book, was the pilot of the first Air Force U-2 mission over Cuba which confirmed the presence of offensive Soviet missiles there. The book relates the story of Captain Charles Stratton, who also signed this book, surviving an amazing high altitude bailout of a U-2.
