This is a scarce true first edition of this famous Dr. Seuss title. It is the first printing of the first edition. You can tell it is a first printing because the publishing information on the page after the title page contains 8 lines. This was reduced to 7 lines for the second printing. Also, it has the red cover instead of the blue cover of later printings. Obviously, the condition of this treasured collectible is rough, however it is a chance to own a more affordable copy of a true first for this title. You can always marry this book to either a real or facsimile dust jacket and increase it's eye appeal. The book is in Acceptable condition. See pictures for the best description of the condition. No dustjacket. The book is intact and holding together. The book has a slight bow to it. The outer covering / binding of the spine is missing. Thus, you see the inner webbing of the binding on the outside. The very last story page of the book has some pen marking that blends in a bit with the chaos of the mainpicture until you look a little closer. There is also some very light pen marking on the pictures on the inner boards (backsides of the front and back covers) that traces the pathway of the road in those illustrations. All of the other pages are free from marking. There is closed tear of about 1.5 inches coming down from the top of the page near the left margin on a page about six pages from the end of the story.
