Description: Very interesting handwritten student notebook dated October 25, 1816 from Dartmouth University. Notes from Dr. N Smith Lectures. This would be Dr. Nathan Smith, who co-founded Dartmouth Medical School and some other schools. He left Dartmouth for a courtyard and returned in 1816 to give a series of lectures which are the subject of these notes. The student is Nathan Jones who I believe was from Lyndeborough, NH whose father was a doctor and he followed in his footsteps. He passed away in Wrentham, Massachusetts. The notebook is in rough condition, dry and brittle with edge wear, some staining and folded corners and at the back a couple pages have holes and tears. The string binding has let go so the pages are not hooked together anymore. There are just over 50 pages written on covering lecture number 2 to lecture number 25 dated October 25, 1816 to November 6, 1816. About 8 1/4" X 6 1/2". It is still a very great piece of history to have.
