It was acquired by Gibson in 1993, and in 1997 it moved its production base to the Gibson factory in Nashville. In 2010, it was hit by a major flood and production was unavoidably discontinued, and production was moved to China. Dobros currently being sold as new are made in China.This instrument was made in 1994, so it was made at the old Dobro factory in California. It features the original Dobro construction and a clean, sustained sound. The body is made of maple and the fingerboard is made of rosewood. It has three open-back pegs and a dull plating, but the tuning is stable.The resonator is a spider cone, and you can play with a thick, clean sound. There is no cloudiness on the chrome-plated resonator cover or tailpiece, and the body has some weather checking due to aging, but there are no dents or scratches, and there are some scratches and scuffs from normal use. It is in such good condition that it is hard to believe it is 30 years old. Nut width: Round regular grip neck with 44 mm (actual measurement). It is well-adjusted, and the string height above the 12th fret is set to about 3.0 mm for both the 6th and 1st strings.
