This might be our favorite LEEDS POTTERY piece because of its rarity, size, quality and unique manufacturing process. Bambi is in superb condition for its age!!!! LEEDS POTTERY OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS 1944-1954 IN EXCELLENT SHAPE! LEEDS POTTERY was a Distributor of Disney licensed pottery pieces from 1944 through 1954. Many collectors are surprised to hear that LEEDS Pottery did not actually manufacture these pieces. The Chicago based LEEDS POTTERY contracted with multiple pottery manufacturers so as to obtain the best prices, quantity and production time lines to deliver these wonderful Walt Disney Productions pieces to Flower Shops and Gift Shops across the country. Planters, Vases and Pitchers with flower arrangements were basic LEEDS POTTERY products. LEEDS also distributed the famous Disney Character “Turnabout” Cookie Jars. Their Disney product line also included Character Banks, Lamps and Salt & Pepper Shakers. LEEDS also distributed some very unique larger Bambi Flower Vases that were actually two pieces (the figure and the planter) which were fused together during the glazing process. These are quite rare! Earlier pieces were painted overglaze, and the paint frequently flaked off. Later pieces were airbrushed with lighter pastel colors under glaze. These remain in excellent condition. Since the lighter pastel colors under glaze were created in fewer numbers, they are more rare. THIS WONDERFUL LEEDS POTTERY BAMBI IS A TWO-TONED FLOWER VASE LAYERED WITH WHITE SNOWY PEAKS!IT IS ALSO A UNIQUE TWO-PIECE PLANTERWhere the Bambi Figure and the Flower Vase are cast separately and then fused together during the glazing process!! It is in superb condition for its age. This larger LEEDS piece stands 6” tall, 8” wide & 7” deep. The back is incised “U.S.A”.There are no cracks, chips or breaks on this wonderful Bambi Flower Vase and it shows very little crazing.This LEEDS POTTERY BAMBI TWO-TONED FLOWER VASE dates back to around 1944 to 1950 which makes it about70 YEARS OLD!
