The elephant foot form a beautiful caudex, and the caudex is unique from plant to plant. Elephant is considered a slow-growing succulent. This plant take several naps throughout the year. This plant decided to go into dormancy independent of time of year, growing conditions. Two plants grown in the same pot can go into dormancy at different times of the year. One of a kind unique collector plants Elephant plants live for decades, and each plant is dioecious meaning that male and female flowers appear on different plant. Often time dioscorea elephantipes is used as generation plants passing from one generation to the next. Keep your elephant's foot well protected during winter and keep it no less than 65F for it to thrive. Plant look best when its grown in bright direct sun. Do not over water your elephant's foot as they do not like to be sitting on water. Plant are prone to root rot if soil is too wet. Allow the soil to almost dry out before watering. This exceptional specimen has unusually pretty caudex, the tortoiseshell pattern are fine and distinct and its individual sector go very deep, it's the most pretty out of the many we've witness and evaluated.
