Description: Dionaea Muscipula 'Bristletooth' - Venus Flytrap. Dionaea Muscipula “bristletooth” Young plant in first season of mature growth Green traps striking red inside. Outer edge of traps are rimmed with short frilly teeth. These are North American temperate perennials., will not thrive in home without proper highlighting and winter dormancy. Please consider before buying that you will be able to provide these conditions in order for the plant to thrive. Also are not suited for a terrarium, that will cause molding, rot and death within a few months. These carnivorous plants need to be watered with collected rainwater, distilled water, or reverse osmosis water that has not been re-mineralized. Only exception would be using a zero water filter, or a TDS meter to show your tapwater is under 50 ppm of total dissolved solids. They require full sunlight They require winter dormancy which can be done outside carefully, or in a protected location with a little light such as a garage window, or a basement window. Be sure to not let them fully dry out to the rhizome, but do not keep them submerged too deeply as this will cause root rot. The ideal amount of water to leave them sit in is approximately 1/4 inch. You may allow tray to dry a day or two between refills without trouble. Only use plastic, glass, or fully glazed pots. No metal, no terra-cotta, no stoneware that has an unfinished surface. I like to use cute tea cups and sake glasses that I find in thrift stores or repurpose take-out containers. Leave the plant in the plastic pot they come in, and place inside another vessel to hold some water, or transplant to fully glazed pot with drainage hole and use a fully glazed saucer or other appropriate tray to retain some water underneath. When the time comes to repot, there are varying opinions on what types of soil mix to use, but rule thumb is to never use anything that is enrich with fertilizer. Fertilizer will immediately burn and kill any carnivorous plant. Are use a 50-50 mix of peat moss and perlite. I often top dress with long five or sphagnum moss. Some growers prefer to only use sphagnum moss and others add a special sand to their mix. You can find very helpful advice on Facebook in the carnivorous plant community group. THESE PLANTS REQUIRE DORMANCY THEY DO NOT GROW FROM FALL UNTIL EARLY SPRING *****LAST 2 PICTURES ARE OF MATURE PLANT***** I will combine shipping and if eBay charges shipping for each item, I will refund accordingly. *****PLEASE NOTE: These are temperate plants, and as such experience dormancy from fall to spring. What dormancy looks like for a Venus fly trap is much shorter leaves than are pictured in the photos. The plants may be sporting short compact leaves. When they break dormancy in the growing season, they will suddenly spring to life and grow big! If you do not have an understanding of the growth habits of Venus fly traps grown in proper outdoor temperate conditions in regions with actual winters, please do not purchase from me and then complain*****
