Ultra rare, high-end AMERICAN DESIGNER, 1980’s, DAVID HAYES, 2-Pc, ALL SILK top & skirtvset in jet black and cherry red!! The IMPORTED silk and intricate tailoring make this a gorgeous and feminine set. The Los Angeles based designer was a favorite of Nancy Reagan and his dresses and sets ranged anywhere between $900-2500....in today’s money, that’s $2,542-$7,061. This is a VERY RARE, late 70’s to early 1980’s set and would have cost around $1500 in those days which is $4,237 today!!! Pinked seams, lattice cross-hatched buttons, soft shoulder pads, offset pointed collar, vertical bodice stripes, horizontal sleeve cuffs and hem stripes, inverted box pleats for a lush and full skirt, heavyweight silk that drapes, hugs and SWINGS with you and the DAVID HAYES labels.....it does NOT get better than this, Ladies!! This is VINTAGE AMERICAN COUTURE at its finest from an ever-famous, LOS ANGELES DESIGNER who was loved by the Presidents, Hollywood stars and the upper echelon of society for his classic and highly tailored pieces. The blouse has full sleeves and wide cuffs with double button closure. Soft and small shoulder pads add chic style and structure. Straight-cut hem slows you to wear the blouse with the skirt or worn as a separate. The skirt has fitted hips that lead to inverted box pleats that give the skirt a lush and full look that allows the pleats to play beautifully around your legs while walking. Back zipper and hook closure. The interior label reads MADE IN USA of IMPORTED SILK FABRIC. The skirt also features interior hangar straps for proper storage (a high-end, couture touch). The blouse has 15 inch shoulders, 39 inch bust (or smaller), 24 inch length sleeves, 22 1/2 inch length from shoulder to blouse hem & waist up to 36 inches. Skirt has a 27 inch waist, 40 inch hips and 28 inch length from waist to skirt hem. Interior label reads SIZE 8. EXCELLENT CONDITION other than 2 small black marks at the back neckline and a small, faint white mark directly underneath them. These may or SHOULD come out with a proper cleaning/dry clean.
