Description: This auction is for a 2002 Dept. 56 Dickens All Hallows Eve "Jack-Of -The Lantern ." It is in very good displayed condition. I have found no chips or cracks. It is a great piece for your village display. He stands 4 inches high. He requires 2 C batteries or he can also use the Dept.56 AC/DC adapter, neither are included. He has been tested and is working well. The legend of Jack-Of-The Lantern is one in which Jack was a man who played mean tricks on many people throughout his life . Upon his death , Jack is let into neither heaven or hell, but is doomed to wander the Shadow Realm until Judgement Day. When Jack points out he has no light to find his way, the Devil gives him an ember from the fires of hell. Jack puts the ember in a hollowed out turnip, thus beginning the practice of using turnips and gourds as lanterns. This story was on the front of the box.
