Description: Good afternoon from Congers, NY. Just purchased this from a local estate. I had to do some fun research on this item, there's more to be learned about this for the dedicated scholar. Thank you for looking in and happy eBaying!Silverplated trophy / loving cup, engraved "4th Of July Celebration/ 1939/ Most Unique Entry/ Won By/ Deep Hollow Ranch". Cup is 11" tall to the rim, 8 1/8" across the handles, 3 7/8" diameter at the base. Marked "888" (?) on base (see photo #4). The Deep Hollow Ranch is considered to be the oldest working ranch in the United States. It is located in Montauk, NY, and was established in 1658. I did some quick research and couldn't come up with any information about the 1939 4th of July celebration, so my trail ends there. There is over all tarnishing on the cup; no attempt was made to polish the cup. There is some plate loss at the front, under "Unique" and over "Won" (see photos). Tiny "out of round" dent to base of cup (it's on the back left of the base, doesn't show from front). I don't think there should be a top to the cup, if there was one it is long gone. A chance to add a unique piece of memorabilia to your collection. Need additional photos? Let me know specifically what you want to see and I'll make it happen.
