Back home, he rejoined the Fire Brigade in Sydney's Kings Cross, then, in his mid 20s-over 50 years ago now-he met and married his gorgeous wife, Helen, whilst working on Queensland's Whitsunday Islands. Together he and Helen raised three children and now have seven much-loved grandchildren living around the world.
