Description: For your consideration is this beautiful vintage glass trinket/coin tray featuring the iconic painting done by JOHN TRUMBULL depicting the founding fathers "SIGNING THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE". This glass tray dates back to approximately the early to mid-1970's. JOHN TRUMBULL "Trumbull was born in Lebanon, Connecticut in 1756 to Jonathan Trumbull and Faith (née Robinson) Trumbull. His father served as Governor of Connecticut from 1769 to 1784. Both sides of his family were descended from early Puritan settlers in the state". "John Trumbull (June 6, 1756 – November 10, 1843) was an American artist of the early independence period, notable for his historical paintings of the American Revolutionary War, of which he was a veteran. He has been called "The Painter of the Revolution". "Trumbull's Declaration of Independence which he painted in 1817 is one of four of his paintings that hang in the United States Capitol Rotunda and is used on the reverse of the current United States two-dollar bill". This tray is made out of glass and measures approximately 6.75" long, 4-7/8" wide and sits approximately .50" high. The tray weighs approximately 6.50 ounces by itself. The top of the tray features the famous JOHN TRUMBULL painting depicting the founding fathers SIGNING THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE. The actual printed portrait seen on the tray measures approximately 5.0" long and 3.0" wide. The image is surrounded by a .75" wide white border. Below the image in the center along the tray's bottom edge there is a small outlined plaque that has four lines of words that read as follows.
