There are 5 notes in this lot, and the notes all grade Very Fine or a touch better. The average grade being Very Fine. All notes in this pack are Series 1934’s and all notes have the Blue Treasury Seals. These notes do not have any graffiti and I do not see any tears. This group seems to be missing the problems you usually see on these older Silver Certificates such as pen graffiti, scotch tape and tears. You may find an occasional 1/8” or less edge split, but these notes are all circulated! Originally, the holder of a Silver Certificate, could demand the value of their bank note in Silver. You could walk into a Federal Reserve Bank, present your $10.00 Silver Certificate and demand they exchange it for $10.00 in silver. On May 25, 1964, the Secretary of the Treasury; C. Douglas Dillon, announced that silver certificates could no longer be redeemed for silver dollars. Because of the public discontent, another Act of Congress dated June 24, 1967, provided that the certificates could be exchanged for silver bullion for a period of one year, until June 24, 1968. Because the value of Silver at the time was higher, coin dealers were buying all Silver Certificates up so that they could stand in lines in Washington DC to exchange them for Silver Dollars. This general redemption caused many of these notes to be removed from circulation and destroyed by the treasury department. The earliest note in this pack is a 1934 and the latest note is a 1934-C. Please look the scans over carefully, and judge the quality of the notes in this lot for yourself before bidding! Own a piece of history!
