Chuck Amati was known as the "One Armed Bandit" after racing successfully with an injured arm and driving with the other in 1964, Chuck Amati was one of the Midwest's most popular sprint-car racers. Amati raced with the World of Outlaws during the early years of the organization and was also a frequent winner on the Indiana open-wheel scene. Many believe that Amati won more than 600 features during his driving career which spanned from 1959 to 1991. Much of his success came while racing for the Short Brothers #21 out of Marion, IL. during the mid 1970's. He was inducted into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in 2004 and the Hoosier Auto Racing Fans Hall of Fame in 2001.
