Book Description: The Thin Man was the basis for the superb 1934 film adaptation and a litany of sequels which would follow from the 1930s through the 1940s. As with Hammett’s other novels, ‘The Thin Man’ is considered one of the all time greats in mystery/detective fiction, and in 20th century literature in general. This novel was dedicated to the author's wife, playwright Lillian Hellman. While The Maltese Falcon may now be Hammett’s best remembered title, The Thin Man was likely his most commercially successful. Of Note:Ex Libris bookplate shows this book belonged to the library of a "Zeboim C Patten." If my research is correct, this is Zeboim Charles Patten, who was the nephew of notable Civil War Captain, industrialist, and capitalist Zeboim Carrter Patten. Zeboim Carrter Patten was also the founder of Chattanooga Medicine Co., now called Chattem. Zeboim Charles Patten's daughter was a noted actress and performer on Broadway.
