Description: Vintage Beautiful Dania Jai-Alai Fronton Hi Li Dania Florida FL Postcard. Deemed one of the world’s fastest ball sports and originating in Spain’s and France’s Basque region, jai alai involves bouncing a ball off a three-walled court and catching it with a “cesta” or basket. It was brought to the United States in 1924. When Dania Jai-alai opened in 1953, it was only the second Jai-alai fronton in the United States. It is located in the city of Dania Beach, also known as the "Antique Shopping Center of South Florida" and is just 10 minutes away from Fort Lauderdale and Hollywood, Florida, and only 30 minutes north of Miami's South Beach, it is located at 301 E Dania Beach Blvd. Postcard postmarked February 23, 1957 from Sis in Dania Florida to Mrs. Phil Adler in Cincinnati Ohio. Thomas Dexter Press 1934-1977 West Nyack, NY. 77822 dated 1954: Thomas A. Dexter opened his first printshop in Park Ridge, NJ in 1920. He moved to Pearl River, NY eight years later, and by the 1930’s he was producing postcards, mostly linens but also black & white and hand colored cards covering a wide variety of subjects. Although an early pioneer of natural color images, the firms output seems to have only turned exclusively to photochromes after they moved to West Nyack, NY around 1952 when their old shop grew too small. Most of the photochromes printed by Dexter Press bore the words Genuine Natural Color. Please review the photos carefully for condition and detail. Normal wear associated with an old postcard might have creases, corner bumps, ink on the front etc.
