Description: The back of this unused postcard reads: BUFORD'S BOYS - JULY 1, 1863 Soon after 8 a.m. on July 1, 1863, Union Gen. John Buford's cavalry engaged Confederate Gen. Henry Heth's infantry division west of the Seminary along McPherson's Ridge. Bufored's men remained outnumbered nearly four to one for close to three hours, until the First Corps under Union Maj. Gen. John Reynolds arrived and deployed near this position after 10 a.m. The Edward McPherson farm buildings are visible in the background. This painting by renowned artist Dale Gallon is one of 10 original works that appear in the Gettysburg Seminary Ridge Museum. These postcards were sold in sets of 10 at the Seminary Ridge Museum at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, but my set (all of which I will be listing) contained only 9. Each post card measures 4” x 6”, which I believe is a little larger than a standard sized postcard. To my knowledge, these postcards are only sold in the gift shop and are not available online. Postage is a flat $3.99 no matter how many postcards you buy. I apologize for the high cost, but I've been informed by my local post office that because I use rigid cardboard to ensure the postcard will arrive in pristine condition it MUST be sent via Ground Advantage. I'm told they "Won't go through the machine" like a regular envelope. The amount I'm charging doesn't always cover the full amount. Sorry, it's their rules, not mine.
