Description: We have collected Native American art for more than thirty years. It's now time to reduce our collection in order to have others enjoy them. I will be listing additional pieces. I believe I have priced it below a gallery price. This is one of world renowned Dalawepi's pots. It has an amazing amount of detail (ancient symbols, kachinas) cover nearly all of this pot on highly polished blackware. He uses natural pollens, minerals, and gemstones like ground turquoise, azurite, and others. This pot has a larger Turquoise stone mounted on the front. He was of mixed Hopi/Acoma heritage. He was known by most people as Dalawepi (Colors of the Rainbow) He mostly did sgraffito artistry on black pieces. This pot is approximately 4 1/4" high and 5 1/4" wide and is thicker walled as is his style. He has won numerous awards, and his pottery is sought after even more by many collectors since his passing in 2005. Dalawepi is listed in the following publications; Southern Pueblo Pottery 2,000, Artist Biographies, Southwestern Pottery, Anazazi to Zun, Hopi-Tewa Pottery 500 Artist Biographies, Collections of Southwestern Pottery and Miniature Arts of the Southwest.
