Their mission is to proactively search out the dogs who can’t search for help themselves. In addition, they offer educational youth programs to encourage animal compassion and advocacy in their everyday lives, and to stop animal cruelty. The founder of this rescue goes above and beyond for these underdogs. Many are beaten up and broken animals, who would otherwise suffer a horrible and painful death on their own, left at the dump, living in abandoned buildings...puppies, bait dogs, and pets who are no longer wanted, are rescued from a horrendous uncertain life. She has teamed up with local restaurants to collect their leftovers and brings food and water everyday, trying to lure them out of their hiding places where they are living in fear, hunger, and sometimes agony, to get them the help that they need and deserve. If possible they are caught, after sometimes weeks of trying to gain their trust, and taken for medical care, spay and neuter, and then to foster homes to rehab and give them some normalcy and love, with the end result hopefully being adoption. They are sent to fosters on and off the island. They have teamed up with fosters stateside, along with shelters along the east coast and midwest to get these animals adopted into a real loving home. More help is always needed! This year we are donating a portion of every coffee mug sold to Ruff Start Rescue Stx.
