The box is inlaid with genuine Katalox, no stains, just the natural beauty of the wood. It's finished with lacquer to enhance and protect the wood grain. Katalox, a dense, dark hardwood from Central America, is significantly harder and heavier than oak or maple. This ashtray is both large (10" x 7.5" x 1.5") and heavy, designed to last a lifetime if properly cared for. In fact, many people end up hanging them as display pieces—they're almost too beautiful to use.
