Description: Vintage Spina Christi Seed Rosary Crown of Thorns w/Terra Catacombe Relic CrossOld Italian spina christi seed bead rosary that has a "terra catacombe" relic reliquary crucifix. The crucifix is silver tone metal and inside it has a piece of holy soil from the catacombs in Rome. On the back it is marked Roma and Italy. The centerpiece has the image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and on the back is the image of the Madonna and Child. The metal parts of this rosary has patina from age but overall this rosary is in good condition for it's age. Has a little tag attached that says it's a Double Wire.The relic is intact as is the little screw closure. The brown beads are made from parts of the bush botanically known as Zizyphus spina Christi, also known as the jujube tree. This bush can reach a height of fifteen to twenty feet an can be found growing in the vicinity of Jerusalem. Legend suggests that Christ's crown of thorns was made from its crooked branches which are covered with thorns. The crucifix measures about 2" long.The rosary measures about 22" long.
