A decade back, Grey Flannel Auctions offered a 1997 team-issued Carter jersey of their own, and the lot included an interesting letter (regarding the jersey) written by Vikings equipment manager Dennis Ryan. While that jersey was tagged 38 (slim!), Ryan noted that Carter would wear looser jerseys at the beginning of the season and gradually slimmer cuts as the season wore on. This jersey is tagged 44, which would be consistent with Carter's preferred size earlier in the season.
