Luis Felipe Wilson Varela (Wilson) (Guantánamo, December 7, 1930 - Havana, December 18, 2006) was a Cuban cartoonist, known and internationally recognized by Wilson “el de las criollitas”. The stereotype of a Cuban woman with a perfect body that appears under the name Criollitas, is due to the cartoonist Luis Felipe Wilson Valera, who began his work in the cartoon in the publication Zig Zag before 1959. On October 16, 1961, Wilson drew the cover of the first issue of Pálante. Those who knew Wilson and remember his drawings between comics, say that he drew some large Criollitas on white cardboard.
