Description: make / manufacturer: Crate model name / number: TONE MONSTER!!! size / dimensions: Big.....it's big..... This is a Crate Vintage Club 50 from 1995. The actual model number is VC-50H for the head. It's got both the 4-10" and 2-12" speaker cabinets and it gets LOUD!!! This thing is a tone monster, Mark Knophler used and promoted these when they were new. The whole story is this: I bought this more than a month ago in a non-working condition.(If you look on Panama City CL under "Crate amplifier", it might still be there) Anyway, I'm not a "amp tech" by any stretch of the imagination but I have been known to fix stuff. So, after studying it to death (without dying, these things are dangerous) I figured out the output transformer was bad. You can't actually find direct replacement stuff, so this has been upgraded with a Hammond 1760L output transformer which should give it so much "headroom" that you should never experience "clipping", I don't care how loud you go this OT should handle it. The other stuff I found was some "cold solder joints" that I reflowed. The volume on the clean channel has a dead spot for like the first 20%, but who plays with an amp this large at that low of volume. If it stays around too long I'll probably put some new tubes in it, it currently has the original Sovtecks in it. JJs EL84S are supposed to be awesome with a good 12AX7 in V1 and a 12AU7 in V2, but right now it's stock, price will be adjusted if I retube it. As far as the speaker cabinets go, I haven't pulled the speakers to look at them but they sound excellent. No buzz or fuzz that's not supposed to be there. They haven't been in water but wherever they were previously stored was moist. Both cabinets have swollen particleboard at the bottom. I've opened the cabinets and cleaned them really good, from the back there's no visible problem or defects with the speakers. I've cleaned the vinyl on the cabinets and head as good as possibly can be, but they're still all kinda stained. It's a 30yr old amp......give it a break This item is also listed on Craigslist for Okaloosa county Florida.
