About the Book:Publishing a book containing abstracts of Court Minutes of a county was an entirely new experience for the author, having previously dealt with wills, deeds, marriages, estate records, guardian records, and petitions. County Court Minutes are one of the least used sources of information that we have, primarily because there is no index and every word has to be carefully read or something important could easily be missed. They quite often contain information not found elsewhere, but the task of reading them is too great for the average researcher. One of the things that makes this book different from most research volumes is that it contains about half again as many names. Frequently names have been observed in these records that have not been noted in the wills or deeds of this county. Great numbers of children had guardians appointed when their parent or parents died intestate, leaving no will naming them. Other children were bound out to learn the art and mysteries of planting, saddlery, bricklaying, cooking, weaving, and other crafts. Many illegitimate children were bound out, giving their ages and one Or more parents. There is much local history contained herein.
