Description: This is an unused copy of Costantino Nivola in Springs still in its original plastic wrap. It has been in my storage.I acquired the catalogue which accompanied a 2003 show at The Parrish Museum probably in the early 2000s after the show when I was doing curating and consulting work in the Hamptons.Costantino Nivola (1911 - 1988) is an artist of interest to contemporary audiences. Nivola is the subject of a current exhibition at the Museo Nivola in Orani his hometown looking at his work's relationship to the prehistoric sculpture of Sardinia where he was born.Nivola came to the U.S. in 1939 and joined in the New York City artists scene of the World War II years. In 1948 after a visit with artists Jackson Pollock and Lee Krasner in the Springs, Nivola and his wife Ruth also bought a place in the Springs.
