COPPERCUTTS Hummingbird Ornament SouthWest Copper with Choice of Primary Color!

Description: COPPERCUTTS HUMMINGBIRD ORNAMENT HOWDY! This 3" x 3.5" Hummingbird Ornament is totally unique. Inspired by the natural beauty, wildlife, and Native American heritage of Arizona, I use natural copper, contrasted with patinaed copper, laminated to hardwood, to capture the spirit of the Southwest. By using the process described below, the look of expensive solid copper artwork is reproduced in a lightweight and inexpensive form. Choose from two variations of this design...Blue/green patina with copper inlay or Heat treated copper with patinaed inlay. COPPER LAMINATED TO WOOD.....NOT SOLID COPPER The first step is bonding a thin sheet of heat treated copper to 1/8" thick birch plywood. Detailed designs, most including inlays, are then cut by hand using the tiny blades of a scroll saw. The various pieces are separated, and portions of the design are oxidized, to create an aged/mineralized effect. After the acid treating is complete, the inlays are re-installed; then the entire piece, including the back and edges, is sprayed with multiple coats of clear lacquer. This locks in the colors of both the heat treated and verdigris copper for the entire front surface. Because CopperCutts are created with natural processes, the colors and textures will be unique for each individual piece within those two primary options.
