Of course, there were johnny cakes, flannel cakes, and corn-meal flapjacks. Egg recipes were plentiful. Odd things to make: Dover, Transparent Crust, Jaune Mange, Damson Tart, Ash Cakes, Graham Wheatlets, Sweet Rusk and Indian-Meal Gruel. I was surprised to see recipes for ices. Chocolate was found back then but there were only two types of candy listed: Molasses and Sugar.( on line review)
