Description: Petrified Wood ColoradoRough Petrified Wood - from the Platte River in Adams County. Found in the Denver Basin in the Dawson Formation and is about 50 to 60 million years old. Colorado has excellent palm wood that is high quality, highly agatized and a wide variety of colors. Most of the outside's are tan but the insides vary greatly with black, white, tan and beautiful blue agate dots. Many collectors don't know of the Colorado palm wood because there isn't a lot of it around. Most of the petrified wood from Colorado is Conifer. Rough - this piece is really nice, with light brown, a touch of red and blue fortification, great outside character. Colorado wood is very hard and agatized and takes an excellent polish. It's a joy to work with. Nice specimen. Be palm specimen to add to your collection. Measurements are about: 3 1/4 inches by 2 1/4 inches on cut face and 2 1/4 inches tall, weighs 12.1 oz.
