ABOUT THE COLLECTION: Award winning costume designer Francine Jamison-Tanchuck was the lead designer on both The Color Purple (2023) and Emancipation (2022). Jamison-Tanchuck is a seasoned costume designer in the movie industry and was even nominated for an Oscar for her work in Steven Spielberg’s The Color Purple (1985). She has also designed for Glory (1989), White Men Can’t Jump (1992), Sister Act 2 (1993), Just Mercy (2019), and One Night in Miami (2020). When interviewed about her return to designing for the new musical adaptation of The Color Purple, she said “It's come back again full circle," she says. "It's just... wow. What a journey for me. I've just had an amazing, amazing career." Siam Costumes recently posted (Facebook and Instagram), a tribute to designer Francine Jamison-Tanchuck for being awarded with The Costume Designers Guild 2024 Career Achievement Award! The pictures they used in their post show vests like one that I will be selling and also a two piece skirt and jacket that I will be selling. I will include screenshots of the Instagram post so that you can see that the items that I will be listing are authentic and all original from both movies. Emancipation was filmed first and then The Color Purple was filmed. After doing some research I realized that some of the costumes that were originally designed to be used in Emancipation were then set to be used in The Color Purple. One particular vest that I have has a Siam tag that says Emancipation but it also has a sticker label that says Great Ol Mister (a character in The Color Purple). Some of the costumes I will be listing have been identified in the movies and I will include pictures of the scenes they are seen in. Some of the costumes were not identified in the movie but were part of the costume collection and have similar characteristics to the costumes seen in the movie or have other details (labels, tags, etc) that identify which movie they were used on. Ships from a non smoking home. See my other listings from the production of The Color Purple and Emancipation. I so be posting everything today and tomorrow so be sure to check back and see what I’m going to list!
