They are inscribed Renta de San Lazaro (San Lazaro income) and Salvemonos de la Lepra (protection against leprosy) clearly indicating the proceeds of the tax would be used to combat leprosy. The first stamp in the set is the only Colombian revenue known to the author to be denominated in milesimos de peso oro, that is thousandths of a gold currency peso or tenths of a centavo.
