Other: Nice travel view of the Schalenbrunnen in Düsseldorf, Germany. Designed by von L. Muesch, it was completed in 1882. In the background the shop at the left reads, “Joseph Jonas, Robes & Confections.” Emil Römmler (1842-1941) came to photography early in life learning his trade in the late 1850s from his photographer/painter father Carl Römler in Leineweber. By 1861 he is producing commercial work and investigating the lithographic process eventually turning to the new “Albertotype” printing process. He joined with Erasmus Jonas, an accountant, to from the firm Römmler & Jonas in 1871 going on to successfully produce, publish and print many views of Europe and America. His son Hans took over the company about 1910. The company buildings were destroyed during the Dresden fire bombings of 1945. Send questions.
