C. ternatea is a species within the legume family of Fabaceae that is native to Southern Asia, but has become naturalized in parts of Africa, Australia, and the Americas. It is a perennial herbaceous plant, with oblong leaves that grows as a vine. Growing up to 9 feet at a quick pace. The plant is most known for its flowers, which are a deep blue with light yellow in the center, reaching about 1.5 inches long and 1 inch wide. Some cultivars will produce white flowers.
