Description: Considered as the British leg of the Joint European Series (JES), which had unique issues printed in languages such as German, Swedish, and Dutch, these 13 issues were produced in the English language but never made available as part of the well known and extremely popular US Classics Illustrated series. With only one very limited print run, these have become some of the most sought after Classics Illustrated issues for collectors worldwide, and an original can sell for up to £600. With these facsimiles, CCS Books has made them available to collectors at a far more manageable cost. We have also included versions of Melville's Typee and Poe's The Gold-Bug which feature interior art only available in the British series (and a unique cover for The Gold-Bug), as well as the British-only painted cover edition of Frederick Marryat's Mr Midshipman Easy-an issue that could now be considered the rarest of all Classics Illustrated comics. Issue number 157 from the Classics Illustrated Joint European series - Alexander Pushkin's The Queen of Spades. Find the entire Classics Illustrated JES and more in our eBay shop.
